Possible Complications of Lasik Surgery
While there are many (most good) benefits of having a Lasik there are also risks and complications such as:
macular hole
irregular astigmatism
erosion of the epithelium
displacement of the corneal flap
Your Lasik surgeon will evaluate you to determine if you are eligible for LASIK surgery. Some of the factors that can disqualify someone for lasik are: large pupils, thin cornea, pregnant, healing problems. Your Doctor should discuss health conditions and evaluate your risk factors for LASIK.
If you are thinking of having corrective eye surgery than you will want to select an ophthalmologist and make sure they have good credential for performing Lasik surgery. This will help to reduce the risk factors. However, no surgery is entirely without risk. If you choose an eye clinic or an ophthalmologist you will need to check their background, experience, education, training and references. You will want to discuss the risks involved. You should keep in touch with your eye surgeon after your lasik surgery to make sure you are healing properly and following after post-operative care guidelines which will further reduce the risk of complications.
