Lasik Surgery for Near Sightedness (Myopia)

Near sighted people can often benefit from laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis otherwise knows as LASIK. Lasik is the most common refractive procedure. There are alternative procedures for Nearsightedness such as orthokeratology (corneal refractive surgery - CRT), photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) and also the implantation of corneal rings.

Nearsighted is a result of the eyeball is longer than normal so the incoming light focuses in front of the retina rather than directly on the retina. It is said that 1/3 of the population has Myopia.

Your Eye Surgeon should be able to help you determine which surgical procedure would be best for your situation. You would be given several choices such as glasses, orthokeratology, photorefractive keratectomy, corneal rings or laser assisted in-situ keratomileusis (Lasik)
